Fjellstad is located on the island of Handnesøya in Nesna, along the Arctic Circle at the mouth of the Sjona fjord.  Handnesøya is one of the 12000 islands in the Helgeland archipelago, Nordland province, Northern Norway.

In addition to the REIKA mini home, residents will additionally have access to the private island of Buøya. Accessible only by private boat, Buøya will offer residents a place of total solitude to reflect, research, and work during their time at Fjellstad.

Buøya has a farmhouse and a boathouse with a kayak. The island is off-grid, with a solar-powered battery to charge phones and computers.
